🎨 Special Art Event: "Rooftile Painting" Workshop Join us for a unique art experience — the "Rooftile Painting" Workshop, where you'll have the chance to paint your own design or message directly onto a real Japanese roof tile and take it home as a special keepsake! A day of cultural connection beyond borders. Through art and open dialogue, let’s explore the charm and future of Kyoto’s machiya (traditional townhouses). 📍 Event Details: Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM Location: Special Event Venue Murasakino Shimokashiwano-cho, Kita-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture (Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/mNrk7moPjSVmFbNR8) How to Find Us: Look for Nishijin Hospital as a landmark. Across from the hospital, enter the small path between “Flower Pharmacy” and a coin-operated parking lot. Walk about 5 meters straight — you'll find the venue at the end. Capacity: 20 participants (first come, first served) Participation Fee: Free Who Can Join: Everyone is welcome — families with children too! 🎨 No need to bring anything — all tools and materials will be provided. 👥 After the Workshop: Join the “Talanoa” Talk-Story Following the workshop, we invite you to join a “Talanoa”, a traditional Samoan-style talk-story session. This informal, open conversation will be coordinated by Sayaka, who was born and raised in Kyoto. Inspired by the idea that art can connect people, she is actively involved in Blueway Institute, a global research initiative exploring how creative expression can foster community engagement. As part of this project, Sayaka aims to highlight the charm of the local area through artful communication using traditional roof tiles—kawara—as a medium for storytelling and cultural connection. Cancellation Policy
We are honored to welcome guests from around the world to experience authentic aspects of Japanese culture and nature. To maintain a respectful, meaningful, and safe environment for everyone, the following policy applies to all participants, regardless of class or activity type. ⏰ Punctuality Please arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time. Classes and tours begin promptly. Late arrivals of 15 minutes or more may be refused entry and are non-refundable. Delays due to personal transportation or scheduling issues are not the responsibility of the host. 🙏 Cultural Respect We ask all participants to join with an open mind and respectful attitude toward Japanese traditions. Guests who behave in a disruptive, dismissive, or culturally inappropriate manner may be asked to leave the class without a refund. This is a shared cultural learning space, not casual entertainment. We appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a thoughtful atmosphere. 🧾 Reservation & Payment All classes and tours must be booked in advance, with full payment required at the time of reservation. Your booking is not confirmed until payment is completed. We reserve the right to decline reservations from guests who have previously violated our policies or shown disrespect to staff or culture. 🛡️ Insurance for Outdoor Activities For safety and liability reasons, some outdoor experiences may require participants to purchase a one-day activity insurance policy. 🔁 Cancellation & No-Show Policy Free cancellation is available up to 4 days before the scheduled class. Cancellation fees: – 50% if canceled 2–3 days prior – 75% if canceled within 24 hours – 100% for same-day cancellations or no-shows For experiences that require advance preparation, no refunds are given for late cancellations. 🚫 Right to Refuse Participation We reserve the right to refuse or cancel participation without refund in the following cases: Repeated lateness or disregard for instructions Behavior that is aggressive, inappropriate, or disrespectful to the host, other guests, or the space 📷 Photography & Mobile Devices Photography is permitted at designated times, depending on the experience. Please keep phones on silent and do not record or photograph instructors without permission.
